CONSULTANCY AND CERTIFICATION

Food safety management system according to FSSC 22000.

In 2012 GFSI (The Global Food Safety Initiative) Association approved FSSC 22000 scheme equivalent alternative to existing IFS or BRC schemes. GFSI is a worldwide association of multiple stores, producers and service providers in food industry associating significant companies such as METRO GROUP, CARREFOUR, ROYAL AHOLD, DANONE, COCA-COLA, KRAFT FOODS etc.

FSSC 22000 scheme is based on the international standard ISO 22000, which ensures high international acceptance and extension movements of certification on a worldwide basis.

According to the FSSC 22000 scheme, the following can be certified:

  1. a) food manufacturers–FSSC 22000 scheme (production) consists of: ISO 22000 + ISO/TS 22002-1
  2. b) food packaging manufacturers–FSSC 22000 scheme (packaging) consists of: ISO 22000 + ISO/TS 22002-4
  3. c) retail and wholesale with food (supermarkets, hypermarkets, grocery stores, bakeries, butchers, …)–FSSC 22000 scheme (retail) consists of: ISO 22000 + BSI/PAS 221
  4. d) food transport and storage services providers –FSSC 22000 scheme (logistics) consists of: ISO 22000 + ISO/TS 22002-5:2019
  5. d) catering services providers–FSSC 22000 scheme (catering) consists of: ISO 22000 + ISO/TS 22002-2.

Compared to IFS or BRC schemes FSSC 22000 has following advantages:

  • Lower fees to scheme owner, which are transferred in the certification price
  • Validity of the certificate is 3 years
  • Easy implementation for ISO certificates holders (common requirements)
  • There are no K.O. requirements
  • Compatibility with other ISO standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and therefore possibility to conduct audits together
  • Higher international acceptance – international network of national accreditation bodies is used for certification bodies accreditation

FSSC 22000 certificates are also accepted by multiple stores and large producers in Europe, USA, UK, Middle East and Asia.
